UX Basics: Markdown heading support

The great thing about markdown is not having to remove your hands from the keyboard in order to give semantics and formatting to your text.

visualOS doesn’t let us type “# My Heading“ and have that converted automatically to an H1. Or any other headings. tldraw, for example, does this well. As do Heptabase, Whimsical and a host of other canvas apps that can export to markdown and work very well on mobile.

I bought visualOS based on the fact that it supported local markdown files but if I cant really write in the same comfortable way, it loses some value. Reaching for my mouse just to format some text disrupts the workflow.

In fact, support for all markdown would be a great. Whatever you’re using to support bullet lists can surely support all the rest. Sometimes markdown tables can be an issue. But at least all the other stuff.
