app is laggy?

A quick follow-up to my last message. We looked into this, and so far we couldn’t reproduce it on our Macs.

The fact that the lag disappears as soon as a screen recording is running is a very helpful clue. A recording doesn’t make visualOS itself any faster, but it does change how macOS refreshes the screen. So we’re looking at how macOS updates the screen for the app.

We’ve also seen reports where macOS only draws smoothly while a screen recording runs, for example:

What your video shows is much stronger than what’s described there, though, so we’re not assuming it’s the same issue.

To narrow it down, these answers would help us a lot, in addition to your specs and macOS version:

1. Do you use an external display? If yes: is it connected directly or through a dock or adapter (which one)? And is the visualOS window on the external screen or the built-in one?

2. If you use two screens: does anything change when you move the window to the other screen?

3. Do you notice the same delay when typing in other apps, for example Notes? And in Safari at my.visualos.app? A quick note on a test board is enough.

4. Does the mouse pointer itself lag, also outside visualOS? Or only what you move inside visualOS, for example cards?

5. Is Low Power Mode turned on (System Settings › Battery)?
